I met Andy’s father, Rich, about….oh…45 years ago. Rich and I are cousins. 🙂 He and his wife, Laura, called in February to see if Steve and I would be interested in going to Seattle to photograph Andy’s senior pictures. Of course we were interested. However, as the time got closer, we realized Steve wouldn’t be able to go. Dogs. Disney shifts. Etc. So, Rich flew Grace and me to Washington for 10 days.
Our first stop for photos was the Puget Sound Navy Museum in Bremerton. The reason for this stop is the display of the sail from the USS Parche (SSN-683). Rich & Laura are retired from the US Navy. Rich was 23 years in subs and Laura was 20 years on ships. Rich was stationed to the Parche during part of his service time. It is “the most highly decorated vessel in US history”. I am so proud to be part of the Navy family.
Andy found a friend. 🙂
The next day, we headed to Seattle. So many awesome spots for photos…
The Chihuly Garden & Glass Museum was beautiful! By the way – if anyone would like to have a wedding here and needs a photographer, we would gladly travel! I would be willing to offer a discount for anyone who is interested,. 😉
Our next stop was the Museum of Pop Culture. It was a complete coincidence that Andy’s shirt matched the wall outside. 🙂
We then headed to Pike’s Place Market in Seattle. Andy wanted to stop at the Gum Wall. I think this is one of the absolute coolest and most disgusting things I’ve ever seen!
While visiting, Grace wanted to see snow. So, Rich and Laura came through with snow. 106 inches to be exact! We visited Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park. We stopped at Fat Smitty’s for lunch on the way up. This place is amazing! Great food. Really good people. Highly recommended!
Our next and last stop for photos was Fort Worden. Once again, absolutely amazing! First of all, there is so much history here. I was in awe. Second, this is the location where one of my very favorite movies, An Office and a Gentleman, was filmed. There is so much diversity here for photos – the first, old, abandoned buildings, the beach, the mountains… Just stunning! Again, if anyone would like to get married here and have us capture it, we would love to travel! Discounts available! 😉
Anna decided she needed to be in the pictures, too. 🙂 She happened to step in front *just* as i was snapping…
Our last photos were taken the day before we flew home in their front lawn. We had to get a few with their awesome bulldog, Storm. Isn’t she adorable???
Andy – Thank you so much for tolerating me bossing you around for 10 days. 🙂 You were great and so easy to work with! 10 days went by way too fast. We will definitely be back to visit. Next time, Steve will be with us! Congratulations on your upcoming graduation! Good luck to you and all your future holds.
